The ASYO is made possible by generous support from Brooke and Daniel Coleman
The Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra, the official youth orchestra of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, is an ensemble dedicated to nurturing talented youth, building community, and empowering young lives in the state of Alabama by pursuing excellence in orchestral performance and practice in an environment that fosters friendship and a life-long love of music.
Members of the ASYO rehearse weekly at Mountain Brook Junior High School, work regularly with the Musicians and Conductors of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and perform concerts spanning from standard orchestral repertoire to pops and chamber music, from unique settings to the Jemison Hall Stage where the ASO plays it's Masterworks concerts. The ASYO is open to students ages 12-22 who play an orchestral instrument, and currently consists of 70 young musicians from 8 Alabama counties and 25 schools.
