Guest Conductor Julian Kuerti brings us the earthiest program of the season, with music evoking old Vienna, Turkey and the Ottoman Empire. Both Bartók's Dance Suite and Dvorak's Sixth Symphony have roots deep in the musical heritage of Central Europe. Maestro Kuerti will also lead Mozart's most famous Violin Concerto — nicknamed the "Turkish" because of the finale's raucous nod to Turkish military band music. Our soloist, Caroline Goulding is barely out of her teens, but with a list of awards and acclaims that belie her age.
