BACH Concerto in D minor
BRUCKNER Symphony No. 4 "Romantic"
Music Director Laureate Justin Brown returns to Birmingham to perform two of his favorite works. Maestro Brown will once again take his place at the piano, this time for Bach's Concerto in D minor. Both Bach and Bruckner were lifetime church organists and deeply religious men. Both of them seem to address the cosmos in their music. Bach nods to the complexity of the cosmos through the braided lines of counterpoint. Meanwhile Bruckner builds massive cathedrals of sound into a deeply moving and beloved "Romantic" Symphony.
