Meet the Education Staff



Deanna Sirkot Education Manager


Deanna Sirkot joined the Alabama Symphony Orchestra as Education Manager in February 2016 after six months working on the ASO’s Education staff. Deanna holds a BM and MM from the University of Michigan and Cleveland State University and a diploma from Manhattan School of Music in clarinet performance. As a graduate assistant, she taught lessons and classes for Cleveland State University as well as the award-winning Contemporary Youth Orchestra and was featured at the Tedx Cleveland State University conference. Grateful for her musical experiences as a child, Deanna understands the impact music has on youth and is passionate about working with Alabama educators to bring musical opportunities to all students and children in Alabama.


As a clarinetist, Deanna has played with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Cleveland Winds, and Firelands Symphony Orchestra and at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Severance Hall, the Tanglewood Music Center, and Hill Auditorium. In addition, she has participated in music festivals across the nation including the Tanglewood Institute and Brevard Music Center.


Deanna lives in Birmingham, AL with her husband and two cats. In her spare time, you can find her playing her Ukulele and sampling the delicious local cuisine!

Erin Dawkins ASYO Manager

Erin Dawkins grew up in Huntsville Alabama, and earned her degree in Viola Performance from Samford University. Besides her work with ASYO, Erin is an active orchestral and chamber music performer, and does freelance work for churches, weddings, and events in the Birmingham area. She also enjoys teaching, and has a small private studio of violin and viola students. Erin is excited to join the ASO staff as the ASYO Manager!
