Unfortunately, Ms. Gomyo has taken ill and cannot perform this weekend. Award-winning cellist Julie Albers will join us instead to perform Haydn's joyous Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major. This early work of Haydn's was unearthed at the Prague National Museum in 1961, and was called "the greatest musicological discovery since the Second World War." It has since become a popular standard of the concert hall and a favorite of Ms. Albers'.

Young Irish conductor Courtney Lewis is currently an assistant conductor with the Minnesota Orchestra. He enthusiastically requested to play Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, as it is a favorite work of his. Maestro Lewis will conclude with William Walton's First Symphony — an epic work dedicated to a tempestuous love affair and the redemptive love that followed it.
