Event Details

Anthony McGill, Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic, will present a master class featuring five student performers selected from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Alabama School of Fine Arts. The master class will consist of performances by students who will then be coached through making improvements to their performance by McGill.

Admission to the master class is free, and registration is not required. Hulsey Recital Hall is located in the lower level of UAB’s Hulsey Center. Street parking is available, or attendees may park in the lot behind the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts.

Anthony McGill will perform the world premiere of Alabama Symphony Orchestra Music Director Carlos Izcaray’s Clarinet Concerto along with Julio Racine’s Concertino on January 13 and 14 at 7pm in a program also featuring Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony. Visit for more information.
