Dina Kasman
Guest Pianist22-year-old pianist Dina Kasman is a prize-winner of numerous competitions including the Alabama and Southern Division MTNA solo competitions, Alabama Symphony, Southern Adventist University, LaGrange Symphony concerto competitions, Gulf Coast Steinway Society Collegiate Piano Solo and Concerto Competitions and many others.
At age 13, Dina debuted as a soloist with the orchestra and has since performed with the orchestra of the Southern Adventist University and two more times with the National Symphony of Ukraine, playing concertos by Beethoven, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. In Spring of 2020, she became a winner of the first Alabama Symphony/UAB Department of Music Concerto/Aria Competition, and was scheduled to perform Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Sergei Rachmaninoff with the Alabama Symphony. This performance was canceled due to COVID-19.
Dina has studied for several years at the International Summer Music Academy in Kyiv, Ukraine, and participated in the Vivace International Festival in Wilmington, C in 2022. She has taken masterclasses with Vadim Rudenko, Norman Krieger, Anne Schein, Marina Lomazov, Joseph Rackers, Boris Slutsky, Roberto Plano and Alexander Kobrin.
Dina is an active solo and chamber musician in her native Alabama, giving recitals in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Fairhope. She works as a collaborative pianist with students and professional artists. Dina thoroughly enjoys teaching piano. Her piano students have won prizes at local, state, and regional competitions.
Dina is a senior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she studies with her father and duo partner, Distinguished Professor of Piano/Artist-in-Residence Yakov Kasman. She is also a member of the University Honors Program. Along with her Major in Music, she is working on a Minor in French and Business Administration.
