Liuwenji Wang

Second Violin

Liuwenji Wang joined the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in January of 2023. Prior to joining the ASO, she was the Associate Concertmaster of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra and Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory, a Masters Degree from Rice University, and a graduate Performance Diploma from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. As an Orchestral musician, Ms. Wang has performed under the baton of conductors including Alan Gilbert, Marin Alsop, and Daniel Harding.

As a soloist, she was selected to play Elizabeth Ogonek’s Violin Concerto, “In Silence” with the Oberlin Contemporary Ensemble in 2018. In 2012, Ms. Wang has performed the Bach Double Violin concerto in D minor with Leon Spierer, who served as concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 1963-1993. As a chamber musician, she and her chamber group has participated in “Danenberg Honor Recital” in 2017.

Outside of performing in an orchestra, she enjoys teaching students, cooking, reading, and yoga.
