Jingyi Rebecca Hou
Violinist Jingyi Rebecca Hou has been a member of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra since 2025. She has performed with several distinguished ensembles, including the Minnesota Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, appearing in major venues across the United States and Asia.
Ms. Hou made her concerto debut with the Hangzhou Philharmonic in 2013. Since then, she has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, the Stiefel Theatre, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, appearing both as an orchestral and chamber musician.
As an active orchestral performer, Ms. Hou has collaborated with many celebrated conductors and soloists, such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Stéphane Denève, Carlos Izcaray, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Yo-Yo Ma, James Ehnes, Leonidas Kavakos, Noah Bendix-Balgley, and Shunske Sato, among others.
In addition to her performing career, Ms. Hou is a dedicated educator with over a decade of teaching experience. Her students have been admitted to leading music institutions such as the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (with full scholarship), the Juilliard School, the New England Conservatory, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Most recently, one of her students was accepted to Juilliard with a $40,000 scholarship. Her students have also won top prizes in international competitions, including the Hong Kong International Violin Competition, VIVO International Music Competition, and the Golden Classical Music Awards, among others.
Ms. Hou currently serves on the faculty of the First Baptist Trussville Conservatory of Music, where she teaches violin at all levels, nurturing the next generation of aspiring musicians with her artistry, patience, and passion for musical excellence.
