IN THE CLASSROOM
• ASO Education fills gaps in music education through custom, standards-based concerts, lesson plans, streaming, and visits to classrooms. We serve 43,000+ students in 287 schools across 44 counties.
• Our Momentum Symposium offers free performances as well as education and professional development opportunities for Alabama music students in grades 11 through college.
• We cultivate young talent through Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO), which rehearses weekly and performs 3 annual public concerts.

For more than 100 years, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra (ASO) has entertained Alabamians of all ages and backgrounds, committed to its mission of transforming lives through music. As the state’s only full-time professional orchestra, we perform world-class symphonic music to increase access to the arts for communities in the Birmingham metro area and throughout the state.
The ASO promotes economic and cultural growth in Alabama through live performances and educational programs of the highest artistic quality. Its performances include traditional classical, pop, and chamber music, as well as new works and collaborations across various genres. Each season, the ASO offers over 100 concerts and educational programs in the concert hall and classrooms, and reaches the community through performances in non-traditional venues such as hospitals, malls, parks, and breweries.
The ASO entertains, educates, and inspires nearly 100,000 Alabamians each year, including over 43,000 students and teachers in 287 schools across 44 of Alabama’s 67 counties.
