Samuel Rocklin has been a member of the ASO since 2022 and was appointed principal double bass in the spring of 2024. During the summer, he is a member of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra in Chicago, Illinois. Sam is from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he began his studies with his first teacher, Deborah Taylor. He attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music for undergraduate studies with Albert Laszlo and continued his graduate studies at Indiana University under Bruce Bransby and Jeffery Turner, working closely with Kurt Muroki and Lawrence Hurst. During his college years, he also spent summers as a fellowship student at the Aspen Music Festival and School.
