Tunes on Tap: An Evening of Symphony at Ferus

Alabama Symphony Orchestra heads to Trussville for Tunes on Tap, a relaxed evening of orchestral favorites at Ferus. Conducted by Chris Confessore, the program moves from classical staples to crowd-pleasing mashups and film and pop hits — a lineup built for an audience that wants great music without the formality of a concert hall.

The evening opens with Tchaikovsky’s Waltz from the Sleeping Beauty Suite, followed by an unexpected pairing: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 mashed up with Pérez Prado’s Mambo No. 5. From there, the program moves through Les Filmer’s Eine Kleine Gemütlichkeit, Bernstein’s West Side Story selections, and Alan Silvestri’s Forrest Gump Suite, before closing with a run of arrangements audiences know by heart: a Beatles medley, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and a tribute to John Williams.
