Nicholas Ciulla
Assistant Principal Trumpet
Nicholas is currently the Second/Assistant Principal Trumpet of the Alabama Symphony. He also serves as the Orchestra Personnel Manager.
An avid educator, Nick currently serves as an adjunct trumpet instructor the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Additional duties include coaching the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra brass section and participating in the ASO’s educational outreach initiatives throughout the Birmingham area.
Prior to his position in the Alabama Symphony, Nicholas served as the second trumpet player in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra from 2012-2014. He has also performed with the Atlanta Symphony, Tallahassee Symphony, Northwest Florida Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, New Hampshire Music Festival, Lancaster Festival Orchestra, Ballet Wichita, Wichita Grand Opera, and the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra.
Nicholas earned his Bachelors Degree in Music at the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music and his Masters Degree in Music from Wichita State University. Additionally, he has studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Florida State University and is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Music at the University of Alabama.
Nicholas has studied with Geoffrey Hardcastle, Michael Sachs, Mario Guarneri, Jack Sutte, David Hunsicker, Christopher Moore.
