Hoover High School Performing Arts CenterA Field Trip Concert for Grades 3–6
Bring your class on a field trip to the Alabama Symphony Orchestra for Make Our Garden Grow — The World of Music, a Young People’s Concert designed for students in grades 3 through 6. Inspired by the balance of the natural world, this program connects music and Earth science: students discover how melody, harmony, and rhythm work together the same way sunlight, water, and soil sustain a thriving ecosystem.
Along the way, students meet the instruments of the orchestra, explore the traditions of Western classical music, and hear the stories music can tell — with selections by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Bernstein, plus familiar favorites from film. It’s an engaging, curriculum-friendly way to bring science and music to life outside the classroom.
Grade Level & Curriculum Connections
Designed for Grades 3–6. Make Our Garden Grow pairs music education with Earth science concepts, making it a strong fit for upper-elementary and early-middle-school field trips. Downloadable lesson plans are coming soon — check back before your visit.
