UAB’s Alys Stephens Center — Jemison Concert Hall

The Alabama Symphony brings Parrots & Palms Tropical Rock and the sound of the islands to Birmingham for an evening of tropical favorites, led by conductor Chris Confessore at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center. The program moves through the songbooks of Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, Van Morrison and the Beach Boys, performed with the full orchestra alongside a lineup of guest vocalists. Audiences will recognize ‘Come Monday,’ ‘Fins,’ ‘Under the Boardwalk,’ ‘Kokomo,’ ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy,’ ‘It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,’ ‘Brown-Eyed Girl’ and more — songs built around sun, surf and easy living, arranged for full symphonic performance. It’s a warm-weather program suited to a night out at Jemison Concert Hall, whether you know every lyric or are hearing these arrangements for the first time.
